Senior Web Developers

We are currently seeking energetic, creative, and hardworking Senior Web Developers to join our growing development team. The ideal candidates should be seen as technical expert among their peers, and will be responsible for developing highly configurable, scalable and secure solutions for deployment in a SaaS environment. The successful candidates must also be able to function in a high growth business that is technologically sophisticated, high performance and high demand. Interested parties may review relevant code and documentation provided by moodle.org. Most importantly, the right individuals should be highly motivated, with a positive, “can-do” attitude and a passion for delivering technical solutions in a fast-paced environment. This position may be eligible for our Employee Stock Option Plan.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Architect, enhance and maintain our flagship products, including a Learning Management System, based on the open source software Moodle, as well as supporting subsystems.
  • Deliver high-quality products for a superior user experience.
  • Integrate developed systems with third parties’ systems.
  • Create technical documentation and assist with handoff to Quality Assurance, Technical Operations and Support teams.
  • Train, coach, code review and deliver feedback to other members of the development team.
  • Provide technical expertise to team members for performance, usability, reuse and security.
  • Work directly with Moodle open source developers, including peer review and code submission.
  • Train, coach, code review and deliver feedback to other members of the development team.
  • Troubleshoot, support and maintain developed applications.

Core Required Skills/Experience:

  • A four-year college degree and four to six years of experience in commercial software development or enterprise software development on the Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP) stack.
  • Three years of experience with Learning Management System (Moodle preferred) and other university related systems. Experience with large scale open source applications can supplement a lack of educational technology experience.
  • Strong skills of PHP, HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and JQuery.
  • Hands-on experience in system integration through Web API and other technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of technical tasks and issues with tact, cooperation and persistence.
  • Development experience enhancing and optimizing SaaS software preferred.

  • Self-starter, desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conducting technical discussions in English, and great on keeping key stakeholders and others posted with appropriate levels of detail in a timely manner.
  • Previous work experience or willingness to work in a start-up environment.
  • Effective collaborator in a team work environment.
  • Strong management skill to deal with work assignments and meet deadlines under an aggressive schedule.
  • Able to translate business and design goals into usable product.
  • Problem solver with strong innovation skills.

In 2002, less than one-half (50%) of all higher education institutions reported online education was critical to their long-term strategy. In 2013, that number is close to seventy percent (70%).

edX and San Jose State University pilot a difficult circuits and electronic course. The result: 40% of student in the conventional class got a grade of C or lower, and only 9% in the blended edX class got such a lower grade.

The Indonesian government approved a new regulation to make it easier for higher education institutions to offer high quality online degrees: Peraturan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan No. 24 Tahun 2012 (April 26th, 2012).

Mr. Boediono, Indonesia’s Vice President, requested the Minister of Education to continue developing the blue print for online education in Indonesia during an annual meeting with Presidents of all universities in Indonesia (January 28th, 2013).

71% of leaders of for-profit colleges and universities report that their institutions offer classes online, and more than half (54%) say these classes offer the same value as classes taken in person.
